Joint Information Freshness and Completion Time Optimization for Vehicular Networks

The demand for real-time cloud applications has seen an unprecedented growth over the past decade. These require rapidly data transfer and fast computations. This article considers a scenario where multiple IoT devices update information on cloud, request computation from at certain times. time required to complete includes wait start busy virtual machines, performing computation, waiting service in networking stage delivering output end user. In this context, freshness of is important concern different completion time. proposes novel scheduling strategies both stages. Based these strategies, age-of-information (AoI) metric are characterized. A convex combination two metrics optimized parameters. problem shown be thus can solved optimally. Moreover, based offline policy, online algorithm job developed. Numerical results demonstrate significant improvement as compared considered baselines.
